在眾人的猜測中，瑞秋（詹妮弗·安妮斯頓 Jennifer Aniston 飾）證實自己確實懷孕了，而孩子的父親正是羅斯（大衛·休默 David Schwimmer 飾），事情就發生在錢德勒（馬修·派瑞 Matthew Perry 飾）和摩妮卡（柯特妮·考克斯 Court eney Cox 飾）婚禮前的一個月。瑞秋和喬伊（馬特·理勃蘭 Matt LeBlanc 飾）繼續住在一起，但這時喬伊忽然對瑞秋產生了不一樣感覺。當羅斯覺得自己在喪失了很多父親的感覺時，喬伊只好建議瑞秋搬到羅斯那里住。后來喬伊表達了自己對瑞秋的感覺，但瑞秋婉拒了。瑞秋生下一個女兒，取名為Emma，盡管這個名字是摩妮卡從小就計劃好了的，準備用在自己孩子身上的。
