The WB及UPN（后來這兩家合并成現在的CW）曾播出3季科幻青春劇《羅斯威爾 Roswell》，而本年度CW表示要開發該劇的重啟版?！读_斯威爾》新版跟舊版一樣，是根據Melinda Metz所著的《Roswell High》小說系列來改編，Carina Adly MacKenzie負責為項目執筆；新版《羅斯威爾》講述生物醫學研究人員的女主Liz Ortecho（Jeanine Mason飾演）在不情愿下回到家鄉Roswell，她發現以前的迷戀對象已經成了警官，而且他還是個外星人，靠著自身能力一直隱瞞著真正身份。
女主決定保守男主的秘密，并協助他調查自身起源，然而在一次暴力襲擊及政府的掩飾下，主角們理解到地球上還有更多的外星人，而且恐懼及仇恨將可能摧毀二人重新建立的關系，以及暴露男主是外星人的真相。
