當一個間諜被解雇了，他們絕不會收到人事部門交來的《解聘書》，而是一個連他自己也不大清楚的"火線警告"……
當特工Michael Westen (Jeffrey meijubar.net Donovan)在外執行任務的時候，他收到了一份"Burn Notice"，從此變成了被人遺忘的角色。
Michael不知道自己究竟犯了什么錯誤，也不知道自己得罪了什么人，他回到自己的家鄉邁阿密，決心找出事情的真相，為自己討個說法。
他已經無法再和以前那些眼線聯絡，而且得隨時躲蔽間諜網絡的搜索。為此，他利用自己的特工技能幫助當地警方解決棘手的案件，換取他們的信任，然后憑借警察的信息優勢來秘密進行個人調查。
