這部謀殺謎案劇根據Giles Blunt所著的John Cardinal謎案系列小說第一部《Forty Words For Sorrow》改編，講述了Campbell飾演的智慧、沉著、固執的偵探John Cardinal，他來自阿岡昆灣的北部城市，身上背負著多年的多年的冤屈。Vanasse飾演Cardinal的搭檔Lise Delorme，她是一個精明堅強、富有想象力和天生調查偵探才能的女人。本劇將在CTV的2016-2017時間段播出，最早將會在2016年2月開始制作拍攝。
